INT 232 Ruth Hernandez week 10: Container Home Process This week has been very helpful in the development of my project about the container home. As part of my review, Amber and Professor Wendy were able to provide me with feedback that is helping me design my floor plan in a good way. As part of the feedback, one of the most important suggestions is the need to rethink the placement of the library. Amber suggested that the library should be moved upstairs so we can keep that quiet space more private and actually quiet. This is better because library room would be in a more private space. Another part of the feedback was also put a little bit more of details in my conceptual design, related to material, skims and sustainability. INT 232 Ruth Hernandez week 9: Concept statement, and Diagrams This week, we look a number of new forms of drawings and project processes that are going to be useful as we continue the development of our container home designs. Although some of the concepts were familiar to me, there were others that were new and proved to help me better understand how to organize a space more effectively.  One concept that was familiar to me was the concept statement. This is a concept that I have used in the past on some projects, so it was comfortable to work with it again. This concept helps to ensure that the entire design is tied together by a single idea or vision.  Each of these concepts plays a significant part in the early stages of the design, especially in relation to the planning.   INT 232 Ruth Hernandez Blog 7 Container Home Introduction  In class this week, we learned about our container home project. We cover the requirements for this project and how to start preparing for it. We focus on the research part and the need to look for precedents to help us on the design process. This includes looking for images of existing container home projects, their floor plans, and any other information that will be helpful to us. Another key part of this assignment involves deciding on a particular location for the homes for the design. This will influence the design for both the interior and exterior spaces.   INT 270 Ruth Hernandez   Blog 6 Sherwin-Williams Presentation pt.2 This week, we had our guest speaker Kylinn speak to us again. This week it was more about colors in general. She talked to us about how color trends change over different periods in history and how different social, economic, and cultural events affect the colors we see in design. One of the periods that really stood out to me was the 1960s and 1970s. These were two decades that really had a bold and vibrant color palette. Colors such as mustard yellow, burnt orange, avocado green, and brown were really popular during this time and are still associated with this era today.
